Boron Nitride Composite
Evaporator Boats
Ceramic Technologies offers hot-pressed boron nitrade/titanium diboride evaporator boats used to metallize plastic film and paper. Our boats offer the biggest aluminum puddle in the industry.
Evaporator Boat benefits:
- Minimized spitting
- Better and more consistent optical densities
- Increased longevity
Sizes range from 160mm x 40mm x 11mm. Both two and three component boats are available in a wide range of MOC's.
"The excellent customer service when dealing with Ceramic Technologies as well as the on time delivery service is the main reason I continue to do business with Ceramic Technologies."

Recommendation for use of BN Composite EC(FEC) on Applied Films Topmet Evaporator
Recommended procedure and heating patternPower control mode is recommended. Open “Boat Conditioning” page and input
each parameter individually.
1. Input power density 60 W/cm2 for ZEBRA BOATR like other boats.
2. If you input boat height and width, “Rated Boat Power for Heat-Up” is calculated automatically.
3. “Setpoint for all Boats after Heat-Up” is generally 80-100 % which is estimated from Aluminum feed speed in advance.
4. Temperature is increased along the heat-up line on the green chart. Setpoint 1
and setpoint 2 is the first step power and 65% is input tentatively. Setpoint 3 and
setpoint 4 is the second step power and 5% less than the “Rated Boat Power for
Heat-Up” is recommended.
5. Approximately 15 minutes in total are required to heat up the boat at the first time. For instance, 300 sec., 180 sec., 300 sec., and 120 sec. are distributed to “Time 1”, “Time 2”, “Time 3”, and “Time 4” respectively. 5 minutes in total are enough for the heat-up in the second cycle and later.
