Boron Nitride Composite
Evaporator Boats

Ceramic Technologies offers hot-pressed boron nitrade/titanium diboride evaporator boats used to metallize plastic film and paper. Our boats offer the biggest aluminum puddle in the industry.

Evaporator Boat benefits:
- Minimized spitting
- Better and more consistent optical densities
- Increased longevity

Sizes range from 160mm x 40mm x 11mm. Both two and three component boats are available in a wide range of MOC's.

Characteristics and directions for use of 2 composition

1. Directions for use of 2 composition BN
Composite EC(FEC)

In case of voltage control, apply the standard voltage for metallization immediately as shown in the chart below. The boat could be heated up to the temperature for metallization without delay.

In case of voltage control, the specific resistance of the boat is preferably adjusted to the specification of the power source. The chart below shows the specific resistance allowed to heat up the boat (150x30x10mm) up to 1500 and 1600°C.

For a power source with maximum voltage of 12 V, boats with specific resistance under 2700MOC are available to be heated up to 1600°C quickly. In case of metallizing at temperature below 1600°C, applied voltage lower than 12 V is preferable. The chart below also shows that boats with specific resistance under 3300MOC are available to be heated up to 1500°C without delay.

2. Directions for voltage control of 2 composition BN Composite EC(FEC)

For 2 composition boat with 3000 MOC specific resistance, we recommend to apply 12 V to the boat initially. The chart below shows that the surface temperature reaches to 1600°C within 150 seconds.

For the boat with 2200 MOC specific resistance, the initial applied voltage is preferably 11 V approximately. The chart below shows that the surface temperature reaches to 1600°C after 150 seconds.
